We are committed to ensuring all are treated with dignity and respect when participating in our event.
Our core values are predicated on respecting others and appreciating diverse points of view. Based on these values, Ripple strictly prohibits and will not tolerate harassing, discriminatory or disrespectful behavior, interactions, messages, or images by any participant in any Ripple event or activity, in any form. This includes business and social activities regardless of location, including online events and spaces.
Each of us has a responsibility to uphold the Code of Conduct to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all. We ask that you report any concerns, harassing, discriminatory or disrespectful behavior, suspicious or disruptive activity by emailing us or contact our virtual support desk on our event platform.
Who does the Code of Conduct apply to?
Everyone. All participants in any Ripple activity, including attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, contributors etc, are required to agree with and adhere to the code of conduct.
Where and when does this Code of Conduct apply?
This Code of Conduct applies in all cases, and covers business and social activities, regardless of location. Ripple offers many opportunities for our customers and the broader community to come together to network and collaborate. These include in-person and online conferences and gatherings, sponsored events, initiatives, and online contributions.
What is expected behavior?
All event participants, whether they are attending an in-person event or a virtual event, are expected to behave in accordance with professional standards, with both this Code of Conduct as well as their respective employer’s policies governing appropriate workplace behavior and applicable laws.
What is considered a breach of the Code of Conduct?
The below is a non-exhaustive list of conduct that violates the Code of Conduct:
- intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct or language;
- offensive verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, age, religion, political views, technology choices
- inappropriate use of offensive, discriminatory, derogatory, nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces (including presentation slides)
- intimidation, stalking, or following;- harassing photography or recording;
- sustained disruption of talks or other events;
- inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention.
Conduct not listed above may still violate the Code of Conduct.
Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any situation, including talks, workshops, special events, meetings, and online presentations. Event sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
Some physical venues are shared with members of the public; we require that all participants at Ripple events be respectful to all patrons of these locations.
What are the consequences of violating the Code of Conduct?
Conference and event organizers will enforce this code throughout all Ripple events and activities. Ripple and the conference and event organizers reserve the right to refuse admittance to, or remove any person from, any Ripple hosted event (including future Ripple events) at any time in its sole discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, attendees behaving in a disorderly manner or failing to comply with this Code of Conduct, and the terms and conditions herein. If a participant engages in inappropriate behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the conference with no refund. Please note, while we take all concerns raised seriously, we will use our discretion as to determining when and how to respond to reported incidents.
When should I seek help or report an incident?
Every incident is important. Please seek help as soon as possible for anything you consider a breach of the Code of Conduct, as soon as possible after the incident occurs.It is everybody’s responsibility to create and maintain a safe and respectful environment. As such, you should report incidents:- If it is something that has happened to you- If someone shared something with you, or you were with them when it happened- If you saw something happen from afar
How do I find help or report an incident?
Instances of abusive, harassing, discriminatory or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting us at ubri@ripple.com. All complaints will be reviewed and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The Global Events Team will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement or otherwise assist those experiencing discomfort or harassment to feel safe for the duration of an in-person event.
